One of the challenges that cross training & fitness  lovers encounter is figuring out what types of food they should be eating in order to recover quickly from extreme workouts and consequently improve overrall performance. Cross training & fitness requires a lot of energy, so we need to make sure we eat and drink properly.

If you are just starting out Cross training & fitness  and previously didn’t have healthy eating habits, it might be a little hard to change your routine to something healthier. But don’t give up! Remember that every bit of effort, at the end, has its reward, and even more in Cross training & fitness, so, make sure you take care of your eating habits wisely.

If you have been doing Cross training & fitness for a long time, you know the importance of properly changing up and adjusting your diet. A good diet will help to not only give you the strength you need to fulfill your extreme exercises at the box, but to also give you the mental power to fulfill other activities in your daily life.

As we mentioned, to improve performance and avoid future injuries; it is necessary to eat and drink properly, rest as needed, sleep your 8 hours daily, stretch your body and have a positive mindset.

Registered Dietitians recommend for Cross training & fitness lovers to eat whole foods, such as vegetables, fruits, nuts, seeds, lean proteins such as fish, chicken, turkey, eggs, non dairy milk products and vegetable protein, healthy fats such as avocado oil, olive oil and flaxseed oil, good quality carbs such as sweet potato, oatmeal and quinoa.

Choose foods that are not packaged, prefer fresh produce and prepare your meals at home. There are plenty of free online tutorials that can get you started.

By making your meals at home, you know your ingredients, measure salt and fat accordingly and plus will save lots of money. If you do choose to buy packaged foods, do not buy foods that are made with more than 5 ingredients and/or do not understand ingredient name.

You don’t even need to cook every day! You can always prepare a good amount of healthy food on one day and have it anytime later in the week. Don’t forget to write down when you made the food so you don’t accidentally eat something that’s about to expire.

Also, always drink plenty of water even if you’re not working out. Don’t wait until you get thirsty, the body always has to be hydrated! If you don’t drink the necessary amount of water, your Cross training & fitness routine will not be the best.

Do not forget to hydrate your body

You’ll feel tired and fatigued, since water hasn’t irrigated your body. Never forget to bring your water bottle, in your backpack, in your hand, or wherever you can. A passionate Cross training & fitness  athlete always needs a bottle of water to keep them hydrated.

A delicious alternative to hydrate your body is to drink natural coconut water, full of electrolytes to replenish your loses during your work out.

If you has not started to eat healthy yet, you can slowly change your eating habits; for example, you can inspire yourself by setting and fulfilling a goal every week or at whatever pace you’d like.

Before you know it, you’ll be eating healthy! Remember, comparing yourself with other athletes won’t get you very far. Go at your own pace, advance without limits and trust yourself. Cross training & fitness is like life itself, if you fall or stop, you can get up again and continue getting stronger.

If there’s a day where you break your diet or eat something unhealthy, don’t blame yourself. At the next meal you can always go back to your healthy eating routine.
