How to get motivated for your home workout

How to get motivated for your home workout

The spread of COVID-19 has forced most of the world to stay inside. Because of this, gyms have had to close temporarily during the crisis. Despite this inconvenience, lovers of cross-training and fitness have kept exercising by doing their workouts at home and outdoors.

This is notable because most athletes find working out at home much more difficult than working out at the gym. The question is, what is the best way to motivate yourself to workout without going to the gym? In this new Unbrokenshop blog we’ll give you a series of tips that’ll help you keep your rhythm while continuing to increase your level in cross-training.

Build your home workout routine

What’s the best way to get motivated at home? Most people who exercise stick to a pretty consistent gym schedule in their daily routines. The ideal would be to have a schedule at home, that we can follow the same way we would with our usual routines. We should also include other aspects of our daily lives we would have in our usual schedules such as time for work, cooking, or other activities beyond exercise.

When people get lazy they usually make up a bunch of excuses as to why they can’t work out: "I worked out yesterday", "my muscles hurt", "I have to cook", or whatever else they can come up with.

Basic but helpful

We’re offering some basic advice to anyone with a reason not to work out, or anyone that just doesn’t want to. Our first suggestion is to try breathing in and counting to three, which may seem simple but it's actually very helpful. This simple breathing technique has helped me get up and exercise more times than I count. Try it out and see if it works for you, simple as 1, 2, 3!

Find a partner

Another good way to get motivated for your workout is to find a partner you can invite to your exercise routine. On the days that you can’t motivate yourself, your partner is sure to help you get excited about routine.

If you don’t have a partner, you can invite a neighbor, relative, friend, or anyone else you think can do the workout with you. Because of COVID-19, it isn’t the time to get together with friends, but you can easily do a two-person workout while following social distancing guidelines. With you and your partner motivating each other, you’re sure to get more done than you would alone.

Watching videos of new routines

There are several ways to get motivated for your home workouts. It's important to stay informed and up to date on COVID-19 updates but sometimes it helps to focus on something else. One of the best ways to distract yourself is to watch cross-training and fitness videos on Youtube.

While Youtube is a good place to consume cross-training and fitness content, we here at Unbrokenshop recommend the film "Fittest", a documentary about The Games and Sectionals. This film is sure to give you new inspiration for your workouts.

If you spend a lot of time on social media, like Facebook, Instagram, or Tik Tok, you can get motivated by watching all kinds of workout videos. At Unbrokenshop we’re always offering you new routines from coaches like @Betto_coach, @its_btrue, and @jumpshiptraining so you can get motivated and continue to build your Workout.

Get inspired by new protective gear

Another way to get motivated for your home workouts is by buying new protective equipment like a vest, jump rope, knee sleeves, belts, etc. When you have a new product on your hands, it gets you more excited to train because you want to try out the new equipment. At Unbrokenshop we’re offering you the high-quality protective equipment that you need. See for yourself at www.unbrokenshop.com.

Consider the consequences

Another way to find motivation is to think about what happens when you miss a workout session. A lot of people say they feel bad when they miss a workout. This often leads to intrusive thoughts such as feeling heavier or more tired. They feel like they didn’t balance the food they ate during the day with the right amount of exercise.

What do we mean by all this? Thinking about the consequences and what happens if I do not execute the workout of the day, can cause a series of guilty thoughts. Keep in mind that if I accumulate the days when I do not do the workouts it can cause worse consequences.

It depends on how old you are, over the years it becomes more difficult to get back into the rhythm. This will also imply starting, in many cases from scratch, and losing the advanced. So when you don't feel like training, think about it, do you want to lose everything you achieved?

If I am well, I can help others ...

Another way to get more motivated is to think about how you are able to motivate others. Some people don’t care about how they look, but rather the strength and endurance that they can develop thanks to cross-training. It is very important to be ready to support your loved ones.

If you’re doing well both physically and mentally, you can help your loved ones, like your parents, grandparents, uncles, brothers, and partners. For example, during the COVID-19 crisis, it's important to help your parents and grandparents by getting food from the supermarket, medicines, or whatever they need while they have to avoid going out.

We can also help our elderly neighbors during the spread of this pandemic. They may also need other favors that involve physical strength such as moving their furniture. Helping out is always good and even better during these difficult times. For us to be able to help out, we have to be healthy.

So if you don't feel like working out, you can get motivated by knowing that if you don't train you won't be able to help your loved ones who need you most.

It's important to note the advantages of being fit and ready in case of an emergency. For example, before the arrival of a hurricane, we have to pick up sandbags and chop fallen trees.

Our friends and family also may need us to go buy food for them if they are more vulnerable to COVID-19. Things like medicines, masks, hand sanitizers, or other supplies are essential for fighting against the virus so it is important for everyone to have access to them.

If you’re physically fit, that can be a big help during times of crisis. When you exercise, you won’t just gain physical strength, you’ll gain mental strength as well. Training gives your brain oxygenation which helps your thinking process. In summary, we should consider all the benefits exercising has in our day to day lives.
